[Open] Confused bye NTSC / PAL usage

Hi,

In the Advanced Render Video dialogue, there is a drop down box to select between NTSC and PAL. I am confused as to what those terms from analogue TV do in a digital video application. NTSC is an analog TV standard, and PAL is a way of adding color to a black and white analog TV signal.

It looks like the NTSC / PAL drop down box selects between different frame rates. If that is the only purpose of that box, wouldn't it make more sense to call it 'Frame Rate' and then have options like 25 and 30? Maybe even 50 and 60 could be added if someone wants high temporal resolution?

BTW, PAL doesn't dictate any frame rate. Most countries that use PAL use a 50 Hz system, but Brazil uses PAL with 60 fields per second (PAL-M)

Either way, ffDiaporama is a great application. Very stable and fast.

Thanks,

Holger
