Jpeg aspect ratios

Hello,
I simply need to use this to create slide shows from still images.
Is there a setting by which the jpegs are kept as their original aspect ratios.
I need the finished video to be 16:9 but if I import 3:2 or 4:3, they are cropped to 16:9.
I will be using a mixture of various aspect ratios throughout each video.
I need the jpegs which are narrower than 16:9 to have bars down the sides etc.
Thanks.
Mike.

Re: Jpeg aspect ratios

Greetings Mike

I'm a new user of this software and expect others may provide more detailed help and advice.

In my experience, imported files (images) do retain their original aspect ratios ... and one is simply left with the "background" surrounding those images which don't fit any of the default geometry choices (being Old Tv, Wide Tv, and Cinema).

To date, I have not found any of my images being "cropped" as you report.

One possible work-around might be to resize (or crop) the original JPEG images to 16:9 prior importing them.

Best wishes

Succat

Re: Jpeg aspect ratios

hello.
You can adapt our picture dirrectly with ffDiaporama.
edit your slidde (slide property, in the left side see block coordinate, you will have some option.
Or right clic on the image block and chose correc or reframe image.

If you are new to ffdiaporama see help file [F1].

Re: Jpeg aspect ratios

Thank you for the help it is appreciated.

Succat, I wonder if I have the settings differently to you if images go in as they are for you.
I have many images which are narrower than 16:9 and unfortunately cannot re-crop them, for various reasons they need to stay as they are ie at their original aspect ratio.

Sestay, I have followed you options which you described and yes picking "project height in the centre", does keep the 3:2 and 4:3 aspect ratios as they were originally, ie with bars down the sides to fill the 16:9 frame.
I will now look to see if this can be done for all in one go instead of individually as there may be be many in each show etc.

Regards.

Mike.

Re: Jpeg aspect ratios

Thanks again.
Yes you're correct, settings to automatically do this as the photos are imported are there.
I thought I'd looked already but clearly didn't look properly.
Greatly appreciated.
Regards.
