Hello all.

I tested ffDiaporama 20130730 devel version on Windows 7 (32 bit) and found the following errors:

1. Bug appeared when the program starts, when the scan drives (in the command line). In the error window says that the "device is not ready", while scanning the disk A (I have not floppy disk drive). I attach a screenshot (Windows in russian language):

This window to appear twice when i click "Continue." After this program started.

2. Bug appears in edit slide dialog when the shape of the block changed twice, and then click on Cancel. It results in the failure of the program and its crash. I attach a screenshot (Windows in russian language):

- Does it appear with all shape or only specific shape ?
- Could you start the application from a terminal window with this command line : ffDiaporama -loglevel=1

I open project created in ffDiaporama 1.6, at startup can not be loaded sound file. To question "Do you want to select another file?" my answer is No. The project is loaded. I click right mouse button on the first slide (music file should be started on it), and choose "Edit slide" - "Shape" - select "pushed left", then "Shape" - "rectangle" - then click Cancel. Appears a dialog box "Impossible to open file... Do you want to select another file?" and immediately appears error. I even did not have time to answer the question.

It seems the error appears from the fact that the program can not load the missing file.

I tested the new 20130807 devel version. It is much better than the last. First, the problem with the drive A is solved. Second, Multimedia Explorer is much faster. And third, it seems to me, the overall speed of the program has significantly increased. However, there are a number of problems.

1. An error appears while trying to load the missing file (the second problem described by me above) is remained.
I did a number of tests and found the following information that can help solve this problem.
I have two disks (drive C - it is running Windows, and the drive D - the data is stored).
I'm creating a new project, add photos from a drive D, add transitions, then add music from another folder on the drive D (not the one where the photos), and then save the project on the drive C and close the ffDiaporama. Again run ffDiaporama, open an existing project and getting messages that programm can not find the sound file (which I had previously added to the project). In this case, the file path is incorrect: C :/ Users / Admin / Videos / D :/ 48/vintazh.mp3. Here C :/ Users / Admin / Videos / - this is the folder where i saved the project file, and D :/ 48/vintazh.mp3 - is the path to the sound file. Why ffDiaporama show this paths through the / character? There must be a path: D :/ 48/vintazh.mp3. So the program has a problem with the location of the audio files. If i put all the files in one folder: photos, music, and the project file, then there is no problem.
The error (appears from the fact that the program can not load the missing file) remained.

2. The problem with black slides, (described here: http://ffdiaporama.tuxfamily.org/Forum/ … hp?id=606) also remained. When rendering in mp4 format is well, but the rendering in avi format - there dropped frames. Perhaps, as you said, it is caused by low of computer resources (memory). But really nothing can be done? Users have weak machines will suffer?

3. On preview (as in the stable version 1.6) continues to be observed inhibition (stuttering) music. Reducing the sound sample rate on preview in the settings does not help. Obviously, it is also caused by low of computer resources. In this case, in the finished video with sound is good, so the problem is not very serious.

For the first problem, It's seems that my function to create relative path is buggy in that case.
It should never have to add C:/Users/Admin/Videos to D:/48/vintazh.mp3.
I will check that !

For the second problem. It's been months I search a solution to this problem: When ffdiaporama lack of memory, loading images fails.
This problem appears only on 32-bit systems and I can not ask all users to migrate on 64-bit OS.
The right solution would I care less thing in memory and for that to use a database (mysql or equivalent).
It's been a while that I think about this but it's going to ask me so much work ... (I'm still the only developer of this application and my time is limited)

For the third problem, it's not caused by a lack of resources. In fact it is a problem of timer and eventloop.
This problem appears only on Windows systems and not on Linux. This is because the timer event is generated by the eventloop and is therefore not real time.
I also know the solution: it must pass through a display thread. But it's the same, it'll take me so long to change this in the program.

For the other:

A thumbnail is like a poster or a cover.
When you use media player like Western Digital TV HD, TVXI, XTreamer, XBMC, ... selection of video to play is done by displaying "wall of images".

In new 20130810 devel version of ffDiaporama is remaining errors with paths. It is not fixed.

To perform a clean experiment I deleted the old development version, removed traces of it in the registry and on the disk, then installed the new version and started to test it.

I created a new project, add the photos from a folder D:/Picture/snow leopard, then added to the first slide of the music file D:/48/vintazh.mp3, then added to the seventh slide of the music file D:/48/everything.mp3, then saved the project to a folder C:/Users/Admin/Video and close the ffDiaporama. Then I started the ffDiaporama, opened recently saved project and at loading project I saw a dialog box

I tested a new feature: export project. It is very comfortable and clean. I've long wanted to save not only the project, but also all files that compose it in a one folder.

Export project works correctly. The problem appears when i save a project with a name, containing a Russian letter (character). Everything is saved, but when i open project from the Explorer with double click show following:

Correct name of the project: "проект"

I think this is related to character encoding (Windows-1251, UTF-8 or other). Problem with Unicode?
But that's curiously. When I open this project from ffDiaporama (button "Open Project"), all is well.
What could it be? I do not know.
