Music tracks do not play full length

Some music tracks do not show full length in the timeline and when previewing or after rendering stop abruptly without playing to the end of the track For example a 4 minute track will stop after about 2 minutes. I am running ffdiaporama 2.1 on Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit. I have found that if I remove the slides from the video where there is a problem with the music track and then re-load them, the music track can then be added and will show and play full length. Suggestions to fix this problem would be appreciated.
