Awesome program - minor issues / suggestions

I'm brand new to this wonderful program. Great!! I'll be spending many hours making great videos.

Minor comments:
version 1.5 - 20 July 2014

Running in Virtualbox VM on Linux Mint 17
Host Win 7

- Adding files has no image preview. But drag/drop from a file explorer does work so you can get preview of image you are dropping.

- Slide edit: Zoom is not easy if you are zooming in further than the handles will reach. How about a popup or a zoom slider? Pecking + / - doesn't really cut it for large images.

- on LM 17 - No icon. Does not appear in menus. Looks like it needs integration with Cinnamon WM or Menu system.

Woops... I can't get any output from the program.
All my attempts to render a video get Encoder Error - no details.
I have 7 slides, disolve transitions, 5-7 shots per slide.
No audio in this test.
Is there an encoder dependency that I don't have.
I'd like Lossless H.264, but I've tried everything.
I've tried with and without sound box checked. I don't want sound at this time.

Linux Mint 17 x64
Diap 1.5 installed from the Software Manager.
Again, Running in Virtual Box, hosted on Win 7 x64.

Love to use it, but its completely broken for me for any output.

Which version of ffd are you using ?

Latest devel version should works on LM17.

Did you try it ?

it seems that the previously installed version prevents the installation of the new

Please remove previous version : sudo apt-get remove ffdiaporama-data ffdiaporama

And then install the new one

Yep. Thought that might be the case. If you look at the log, you'll see that I tried the install twice. Between the two, I used Software Manager to remove the "official" version provided by LM, and then tried again. Still failed to install.
Look down the log for the comment line I added "Uninstall ffDiaporama using Software Manager".
The second install is after that.
And it gave an error code too.
