Create masks

Hi, Im new here and so far Im loving ffDiaporama 1.5. I would like to create an envelope using 2 masks, a rectangle for the large content and a triangle for the opener but doing that it look uggly, both masks don't fit very well.

Im wondering if is possible, in some way, to create my own mask. Placing vertices and edges to create a plane shape something like we can do with verctorial editors such as inkscape, gnupaint, gimp and others.
Yes/No? What do you think?

Re: Create masks

Hi

First of all, I advise you to try version 1.6 which contains a whole series of new masks.
Maybe you find the one you want.

Otherwise, at this moment it is not possible to create the masks itself. What you propose is doable but a bit complicated to develop (it'll take a long time) and as the list of things to do is long already, it may not be done before long time.

Do you have any programming knowledge. If so, I can tell you where to add masks in the code ...

Re: Create masks

I tried version 1.6 already and for some reason it use all the cores of my CPU making it run very very slow while perfoms every task and the Frame rate is very low. It take 1 minute to play 1 second of video.

Maybe I can make some bitmaps and use them but I can't use them as masks so is not a reliable solution.

Im good with programming as a rock is good climbing a moutain by itself so i guess that I have to say no but I can learn. Already know a little of Assebly and AMR from my electronic in school and the learning process is easy.

Where I can create my own masks and which language is required to create one?

Re: Create masks

Hi

Which beta version of ffdiaporama 1.6 did you try ?
I solved this error of cpu some times ago.

ffDiaporama is developped using Qt in C++ language.

Re: Create masks

Here is the link of a snapshot of my desktop that I took.I have only 3 programs open (Firefox, Skype and ffDiaporama) and when I play any video with ffDiaporama the use of mt cores go full.

Re: Create masks

Never mind. I will make a video explaining the problem and upload on Vimeo or DailyMotion, then I post here the link.

Re: Create masks

Hello

Thank you for the video, now, I understand the problem.

What must be understood is that in the video edition dialog, no treatment is performed, while in the main window, all treatments are done.
The error does not occur then the video playback but during treatment.
These treatments are very long, especially if the videos are large sources (HD).

One possible reason is the refresh rate of the images in the preview
When this rate is too high, ffdiaporama did not have time to do his treatment he already goes to the next image.

Can you try again lowering the rate in the configuration dialog (preview option / frame rate in the first tab of the dialog).
This will not change the final result only visible quality during preview.
In the same idea, if you have a 64-bit system and at least 4 MB of RAM also trying to increase the memory profile (in the same tab).

Re: Create masks

That really solved the whole problem. Beside of the preview be not too good at 3 FPS I still can do something but I made a test.

I opened Arista (transcode and convert videos/music) and converted the same videos from 1920x1080 to 480x270 (1/4 of the original size) loaded the converted video in ffDiaporama and I was able to play it at 12.5 FPS without the video jump frames and without the messed up sound. When I am done I can replace the converted video by the original video without change any configuration and I can finally render my project.
Preview at 15 FPS would be a great feature but it is good at it already is.

Thank you very much smile
