ffDiaporama not "seeing" MMX extensions
Hi,
i have built ffDiaporama from source for a slackware derivative linux (SalixOS).
Although the build log shows the "qimageblitz" library being used in the compile process (and qimageblitz is installed and tests with "blitztest" show it to be working) the resulting package, when installed does not use it, according to the "check configuration" option. (64bit system).
In all other aspects, ffDiaporama is working from my package on different machines.
What am I doing wrong, or what have I missed? Any clues greatly appreciated :-)
Than you for your time,
Shane

Re: ffDiaporama not "seeing" MMX extensions
Hello
The package qimageblitz is bad on most distributions.
This comes from the fact that it ignores flags but need options in configure when compiling.
That is why I think you have done well but people from SalixOS did not care when producing the qimageblitz package.
Maybe you can contact them. That said, it is not very serious because the performance gains are quite low.
Have you tested the version 1.6?
Would you be interrested/able to produce packages for slackware and/or SalixOS? (You're the first of these distributions)

Re: ffDiaporama not "seeing" MMX extensions
Hi Dominique,
The Salix package should be good for Slackware 14.0 (possibly the -current branch as well) but I will need to test it out. I can get to that over the weekend.
Salix is a distro that aims to be stable, and so looks only for "stable" versions of software, not updating unless packages are buggy or broken - so that is why I went with the 1.5 version.
When Salix starts its upgrade cycle I plan to submit ffDiaporama for inclusion in the Salix repositories, and if 1.6 is declared stable, that will be the one I will putting forward.
I enjoyed using your program, and produced a small (30 image) slideshow for a test that worked prefectly on my iPad. Thank you for your work.
I will report on the qimageblitz package if I can make it work, and also if my package works with Slackware as soon as possible.
Regards,
Shane.

Re: ffDiaporama not "seeing" MMX extensions
Hi Dominique,
I have not been able to get the "qimageblitz" program to behave :-)
I have installed ffDiaporama from my package on Slackware64 14.0 (clean install) and while it installed, it would not run due to dependencies. Anyone who is doing anything in "multimedia" should have the correct codecs installed, so ffDiaporama should work fine under those circumstances.
If you have any information on what I need to do to get qimageblitz running, can you please let me know? Any performance enhancements on a 5 year old laptop are welcome :-)
Regards,
Shane
