[Bug open]VLC 2.02 don't accept chapters in mkv-file

Hello,

in the french part of the forum I read about problems with chapter-settings with avconv. I have a similar problem.

After rendering a film about 10min the film won't start in vlc 2.02 but normaly runs under kaffeine(xine). Under vlc I have to go to the first 10 or 12 seconds to see the pictures. Rendering a short film without chapters don't hav this problem but if there is a chapter in the film I can't jump to it.

As a small workaround I demux and remux the mkv-film with mkvtoolnix without any changes.

System :pensuse 12.1 Tumbleweed with actual packman reps.

Hello,

here are the options:
Fileformat: MKV Matroska....
all Dia's
Video standard: PAL
video format: 1080p-1920x1080 -25 FPS
videocodec: High Quality H.264... with 8000k Bitrate
Audiocodec: AC3 (DD) with 256k Bitrate

The vlc 2.0.2 plays the sound but no video is coming. Even if I go to a spezial time the video is showing.

I've made some tests and with the devel i will publish tomorrow, it works perfectly with vlc 2.0.1
Could you make new tests with this new version tomorrow ?

Hello Dominique,

I've tested it with the version from 2012.0804 and vlc 2.02 and I had no luck.

My video is about 10 minutes and a few seconds and I have set 2 chapters. Evertime when I start the video the timeline shows the end of the video and the music is starting from the beginning with no video. Even if I click at one point of the video then all is showing correct.
With smaller videos I have no problems, then all is showing correct.

I will test it this weekend with the 317 version or pherhaps a newer one.

BTW the new options and features are very good. It mekes working and changing of shows very easy - Thanks

with the new version beta 5 and actuly packages in opensuse 12.2 I have still the same problems. A remux of the mkv-File with aac-audio plays on the vlc normal. Via Mail I will send you the mkvinfo output of the ffd-file and the remux file. Pherhaps you will see any reasonable different.

I continue to work on this problem
The fact is that whatever version of ffmpeg or avconv the problem exist
I did some tests on multiple systems, Windows and Linux and each time, VLC is unable to play mkv videos with chapters produced by ffDiaporama
GStreamer ignores completely the chapters
While the MP4 videos work perfectly
For the moment, I have no solution. I'll keep looking.
Eventually, not planting VLC, I can disable the chapters in mkv (which is a shame).
I will include this change in the next devel

VLC is now playing mkv and mp4 Files from ffDiaporama.

Only the chapters are not supported.

I confirm: Could have mp4's chapter and metadata with ffDiaporama 1.5. With Mkv it's only metadata.
