Crash while rendering

Hi all

I just start to use this program and after some tests with a small amount of photos (around 10 pieces) everything worked fine and the program looks really great.
I use the version 1.3 on a Suse 12.1 32bit
Now there are about 800 photos on the time line and I get two problems with the program:

-- after moving some photos on the time line or inserting sound there is no more preview (thumbs yes). I have to restart the program. I started with loglevel 3 and got this:

-- the second more serious problem is the crash while rendering.
The resulting AVI file contains the whole sound and 6 photos. After this it is only black. But the crash happens only after 300 photos.
Here is a log output and command line output. I hope it can help to solve the problem.

Re: Crash while rendering

Hello
These problems are connected to the use of a 32 bits system. They arise as soon as the projects become big.

It is one of main axis of improvement for ffD 1.4.

What I propose you it's to use ffD 1.4 devel. Even if the works are not totally ended, numerous things are already made and should improve the situation.
Otherwise, if you intend to make of big projects, it can make sense to reflect in 64 bits.

Please, take a look at Follow de developpement page.

Re: Crash while rendering

Hello,

thank you for the quick answer. I think I will change to a 64bit system.

Re: Crash while rendering

OK, I changed to Suse 12.1 64bit.
But now I face the problem with the libavcodec53 which is no more available.
Is a new package with the 54 version in sight?

Re: Crash while rendering

Hello

Could you try this package : ffDiaporama-1.3.2012.0627-openSUSE_12.1.x86_64.rpm

Re: Crash while rendering

Hello

thank you for the fast service.
The installation works fine :-)
I will test the program in the next days and report it.

Re: Crash while rendering

Hello

now I worked a lot with this great program and nearly all features I used worked fine :-)
There could be only a few minor improvements.
- when you move a picture on the time line to a new position the save button does not become active, so you can't save the project. Only when you make an other action in the project the button become active again.
- sometimes the reaction to an action takes 10 to 20 seconds and sometimes the whole system freeze for this time even though there are only one and a half cores of the four core CPU in use.
Maybe this can become better but over all a great job.

Thank you

Re: Crash while rendering

Hello

Thank you for this bug report. I note the save flag error and i will probably fix it in the next devel
The freeze comes when ffdiaporama have to reload images. It could take a lot of times and use only one core CPU.
I make a lot of memory improvement in the devel version and i hope for the next version it will not need to reload as soon image as actually.
