[Solved]Audio croaking and black slides shown in video

Hi,

I have tried to run ffDiaporama 1.1 and following 1.2 beta versions on my laptop (processor Intel Core i7, Windows 7 Home Edition 64 bit installed) and and I have found a couple of problems that I consider annoying:

- the first one is related to the audio during the preview of the slideshow. Often it croaks looking the processor not enough powerful, although it is an Intel Core i7. In the setup window, I tried to deselect all options can cause a processor overload and reduce the frame rate without any success.

- the second one is about the creation of video. Often, some slides are shown black, while the audio still plays correctly. I have seen in the forum that there is an identical problem report and I tried to download the beta 4 release. This release seems to solve the problem, but the processing time is terribly slow also for AVI files in DVD format. This makes the software unusable for long slideshows.

I appreciate the work done until now and I hope these issues can be solved. If you have any question or debug information that can help to solve these points, do not hesitate to ask me.
An additional point, not so relevant, it would be useful to allow to select the TIFF file also with the extension .TIF and not only with .TIFF as it is now.

Re: [Solved]Audio croaking and black slides shown in video

Hi,

I installed the release "ffDiaporama-1.2 RC 2 (20120220)_setup.exe" and I noted the same problems of release "ffDiaporama-1.2 beta 4 (20120210)_setup.exe". The croaking effect is a little bit reduced, but it still appears about every 5 seconds. The Video rendering is very slow and it terminated with a ffmpeg error.

Re: [Solved]Audio croaking and black slides shown in video

Hi,
I am also having sound and black screen problems. Down loaded 1.2 and the sound is better but still have some black screens. Yes the rendering is very slow no matter what machine or config. My OS is Win 7 with 3G Ram.

Re: [Solved]Audio croaking and black slides shown in video

Hi

Which version did you try : please give me the exact number ?
Could you start ffDiaporama from a console (cmd) : Enter this command :
cd "c:\program files (x86)\ffDiaporama"              <= Where the application is
ffDiaporama -loglevel=2 >d:\log.txt                    <=Relace d:\ with a directory where you can write without need of admin right (your document folder for exemple)

Then make a render (you can speed the process by reducing the image size (720p instead of 1080p for exemple)
At the end of the process open the log file and send it to me if it contains errors

Re: [Solved]Audio croaking and black slides shown in video

Hi
Have used the 1.2 version and it seems to have resolved the sound and black screen missing image problems.

Haven't tried the cmd prompt start as yet to see if this will speed up the rendering.

This is a great program and I want to say Thank You for providing such a great program. I like the fact that I can mix video with the stills, that make an interesting program even better.

Re: [Solved]Audio croaking and black slides shown in video

Hi,

Things are going better now. With release ffDiaporama-1.2 RC 4 (20120225), the video rendering works good and there is not more any black screen.

There is still the audio issue during the preview, even if it is reduced. When the processing indicator becomes yellow and then red, the audio is interrupted, although the preview options are set for the minimun processor load:

Frame rate: 3.125
Image transformation: unchecked
Image smoothing: unchecked
Audio resampling: unchecked/checked

The same behaviour is for both SSE and no SSE software installations.

The Operating system of my laptop is Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 (operating system version 6.1) - 8 Core/CPU and the graphic board is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650. With this hardware, I do not expect this kind of problems.

Attached is the log file that I got during the preview with the SSE installation:

Additionaly, in the DOS console, I got this text in yellow:

C:\Program Files (x86)\ffDiaporama>[mp3 @ 0A5A3640] max_analyze_duration 5000000
reached at 5015510

It would be useful to allow the import TIFF file with the extension .TIF instead of only .TIFF. This would avoid renaming all pictures to .TIFF. Can this change be implemented?

Re: [Solved]Audio croaking and black slides shown in video

Hi Mauro

I'm ok to add TIF as a supported file extension : it will be implemented in the next package.

Concerning the preview, i see no error. During the transition, ffDiaporama load next images and it need more time than it have : so it wait to finished that before continuing (red indicator).
=> I could investigate (for the next version) for eventually anticipate more.

To limit load of image, you could increase the amount of cache memory (actually you have 256Mb, put it to 512Mb or 1Go) and reduce this kind of message :
=> Free memory for max value (256 Mb) : Before=9 cached objects for 256 Mb - After=7 cached objects for 229 Mb
